ANTONIO "TONY DIAZ
EDINBURG - Antonio "Tony" Diaz, 71, entered eternal rest Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Amara Hospice Inpatient Facility in Edinburg.
Born in Weslaco, he had lived in Edinburg all of his life and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Tony was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during Vietnam.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Juanita Diaz; and a brother, Alberto Diaz.
Mr. Diaz is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rebecca C. Diaz; three daughters, Veronica Diaz (Armando) Palacios, Andrea Diaz (William) Barrera, both of Edinburg, Laura (Sarah) Diaz, of Pflugerville; seven grandchildren, Victoria Palacios, Iliana Garza, Karen Palacios, Victoria Barrera, Joaquin Barrera, Thomasina Diaz, and Claudine Diaz; and four siblings, Yolanda Luna, Irma Cantu, both of Edinburg, Elva Zapata of The Woodlands, and Arturo Diaz of Edinburg.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
