PHARR – Fortino Cortez, 92, died Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Retama Manor Nursing Center in Edinburg.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Angelita Rodriguez Cortez; his sister, Maria De Jesus Cortez.
Mr. Cortez is survived by his wife, Celia Cortez of Pharr; four children, Fortino Cortez, Jr. of Austin, TX, Rosalinda Cortez, of Round Rock, TX, Ernie (Rosie) Cortez, of McAllen, Lori Cortez of Pharr; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7473 of Elsa.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
