EDINBURG – Rosalio Contreras, 65, went home to our Lord Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at his residence in Edinburg.
Mr. Contreras was born in Edinburg and lived there all of his life. He served our country as a U.S. Marine during The Vietnam War. Mr. Contreras worked in the law enforcement for 37 years, and recently retired from ECISD Police Department where he worked 17 Years.
He is preceded in death by his sons, Carlos Contreras Leo Contreras; and his father, Ubaldo Contreras; and his brother, Martin Contreras.
Mr. Contreras is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Contreras of Edinburg; his son, Jesse (Cristina) Contreras of La Blanca; his daughter, Aracely (Juan Vallejo) Contreras; 10 grandchildren, Carlos Contreras Jr., Jeslyn Contreras, Dominique Contreras, Jesse Contreras II, Brandon Contreras, Angelina Vallejo, Tiffany Vallejo, Angel Vallejo, Jonathan Vallejo, Rosalia Charlize Vallejo; his mother, Maria Guadalupe Contreras; and 9 siblings, Lorenzo Contreras, Miguel Angel Contreras, Ricardo Contreras, Ubaldo Contreras Jr., Fernando Contreras, Ester Contreras, Martha Becerra, Amalia Contreras, Maria Rodriguez.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018, at First Lutheran Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
