Alisia Calvillo

EDINBURG - Alisia Calvillo, 53, went to her eternal rest on Friday, January 18, 2019, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston.
She was born to the late Norberto Calvillo, Sr., and Irene (nee Campos) Calvillo. Alisia graduated from Edinburg High School in 1984. She attended college at Pan American University and Houston Community College, with a focus on Education. Family and friends were her passion and delight. She enjoyed entertaining, getting friends together, and visiting family. One of her last and biggest joys was working on her EHS 1984 Class Reunion. Alisia was hard-working, compassionate, and a loving mother, wife and sister. Those who knew her know that she had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand. This was evident in the way she cared for her elderly mother, and how she fostered four little girls with absolutely no compensation or help of any kind. Alisia will be lovingly remembered for her friendship, cooking, crafting, quick wit, sense of humor and beautiful smile.
She is preceded in death by her parents Norberto, Sr. and Irene Calvillo; a brother, Norberto Calvillo, Jr.; a sister, Delia Zorrilla; and two nephews, Michael Alexander Seales and Efrain Munguia.
Alisia is survived by her her husband, Juan Echevarria ; a son, Isaac Alexander (Pascuala) Sustaita, from her marriage to Mario Sustaita;; nine siblings, Yolanda (Benito) Salazar, Irma Garza, Estela (Jerry Goetsch) Calvillo, Michaella Seales, Eusebia Calvillo, Dalia (Santiago) Garcia, Edwardo (Maria Elena) Calvillo, Janie (David) O'Conor, Ofelia (Jerome) Stevens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
On behalf of her family, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff of McAllen Medical Hospital, Valley Baptist Hospital, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and to her friends who helped her in so many ways.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, February 1, 2019, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
