PHARR- Benjamin Avila, Sr., 94, entered eternal rest Thursday, June 12, 2025, at San Juan Nursing Home.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Francisca Reyes Avila; son Roberto Avila; two grandchildren, Mario Jesus Yarrito, and Gabriela Avila; parents, Jesus and Juana Avila; and seven siblings.

Benjamin is survived by his Wife, Margarita Avila; 7 children, Rosaura (+Ricardo) Rodea, Maria Teresa (Mario) Yarrito, Rebecca (Enrique) Trujillo, Maribel (Gerardo) Romero, Elisa (Santiago, Jr.) Torres, Graciela Avila (Noe) Martinez, Benjamin (Kathleen) Avila, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Martha Avila; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Monday, June 16, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 12 noon Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
