MARIA TERESA AKE BENAVIDES
EDINBURG – Maria Teresa Ake Benavides, 69, died Sunday, April 19, 2008 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Born in Antofogasta, Chile, Mrs. Ake, was formerly of Santiago, Chile and had lived in Edinburg since 1963. She was a long time faculty member at the Rio Grande Bible Institute and was involved in church planting throughout the Valley and Mexico for over thirty years. In her last few years she enjoyed worship and fellowship as well as ministry involvement in several churches throughout the valley such as Iglesia Bautista Central, Iglesia Biblica Berea, Valley Fellowship and Baptist Temple; through her gifts of music, teaching and counseling and her love of scripture.
Maria Teresa is survived by three children, Daniel Ake of Edinburg, David (Jamie) Ake of Frisco, Texas, and Loyda (Adrian) Ake Guerrero of Edinburg; and two granddaughters, Rebecca Marie and Elizabeth Adele Ake.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 6 pm prayer service today, April 22, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be held at 10 am, Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Baptist Temple in McAllen. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
