ARTURO B. SOSA JR.

EDINBURG – Arturo B. Sosa, Jr, 64, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, May 11, 2024. 

Arturo was born in Corpus Christi, TX to Paula Barrientes and Arturo C. Sosa on August 1, 1959. 

In 1992, Arturo met the love of his life, Rebecca Sanchez-Sosa in Corpus Christi, Texas. They were married for 32 years and lived in Edinburg to grow their family. Arturo was part of the National Guard since 1980-1992 as a weekend warrior. He worked for the City of Corpus Christi for 20 years and for the City of McAllen for 15 years. After retiring, he dedicated his time to raising his sons Jamie Sanchez and Timothy Sosa. Arturo was a caring and loving father who instilled in his children the values of hard work, education, and service to others. Arturo had a love for fishing and enjoy taking his sons on trips. 

He was most proud of his sons and never missed school awards, band concerts, or events they participated in. He was especially proud of both sons completing their college degrees and always encouraged them to continue their education.  

Art's memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. 

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Rebecca Sosa; two sons, Jamie Emilio (Angela) Sanchez, Timothy James Sosa; a grandson, Emilio James Sanchez, and three children from his previous marriage.  

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a 12 p.m. rosary followed by a 1 p.m. Memorial Service Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. 

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
