AREOPAJA “PAJITA” FLORES

He who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress my God, in Him I will trust.

SAN JUAN- Areopaja “Pajita” Flores, 89, died Saturday, March 1, 2025, at her residence in San Juan.

Areopaja and Gilbert were married for 50 years and lived in San Juan for all of their lives. Gilbert passed away July 1st, 2010.

Areopaja’s love for her husband, Gilberto, her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was immense.

Besides her loved ones, gardening was her other passion. She devoted countless hours to nurturing her plants and tending to her garden, a labor of love that brought her immense joy, and was a testament to her caring spirit, cherished by all who knew her. 

Areopaja is preceded in death by her husband, Gilberto L. Flores; parents, Teofilo and Areopaja Trevino; six siblings, Alicia Vasquez, Elodia, Ciro, Teofilo, Agustin, and Leonel Trevino.

Areopaja was the last surviving family member of all her siblings. She is now with family and our Lord. Amen.

Mrs. Flores is survived by her four daughters, Nelda (+Mauro) Leija, Martha (+Pedro) Martinez, Diana Flores, Elizabeth (+Hector) Sandoval; and her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church in San Juan. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
