ANITA M. FLORES
Anita M. Flores Anita passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at DHR Hospital in Edinburg, Texas.
Though our hearts are heavy, we are also filled with gratitude for the 70 beautiful years she gave to this world.
Mrs. Anita was a visionary and a leader. For over 25 years, she owned and operated child care centers, shaping the lives of countless children and supporting working families in our community.
She didn’t just care for children — she built futures, creating a safe place filled with learning, love, and guidance. Her influence will live on in every child she helped nurture.
Mrs.Anita was also a pillar in her hometown of Rancho San Jose, Mexico, one of her greatest passions was to help those in need and lead by example. She donated and raised funds to support her hometown. She was the initial founder which brought running water and electricity to the community. Anita never forgot her roots. With love and pride, she gave back wholeheartedly, uplifting her hometown just as she did everyone around her.
One of her greatest legacies was her courage. As a breast cancer survivor, Anita refused to let her diagnosis define her — she let it strengthen her. She transformed her battle into purpose by founding Fundación Renacer, dedicating herself to supporting other women facing the same fight. Through awareness walks, television interviews, and community outreach, she used her voice so others would never feel alone.
Anita was first and foremost a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Benjamin Flores, whom she now rejoins in eternal peace. She was a loving and dedicated mother to her daughter, Sandra E. Flores, a proud Family Nurse Practitioner who continues her mother’s legacy of compassion and service. She carried forever in her heart her son, Jorge A. Flores, who preceded her in death. The love she had for her children was fierce, protective, and unwavering.
She was also a proud grandmother to Alondra S. Flores, Natalia I. Ramirez, and Destiny G. Cuevas. Her grandchildren were her joy — her light — and she poured into them the same strength, wisdom, and tenderness that defined her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Ruperto and Enriqueta López siblings, Rogelio Lopez and Ofilia Saenz, whom she carried in her heart always. She is lovingly survived by her dear brothers, Eutimio Lopez, Ruperto Lopez Jr., and Julio Lopez, who will continue to cherish her memory and the bond they shared.
Mrs Anita was a woman of faith, strength, and action. She helped family, friends, and neighbors quietly and consistently — not for recognition, but simply because that was her heart.
