SAN JUAN —Alfonso "Poncho" Cruz, 86, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026, at his residence in San Juan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anacleto and Tiburcia Cruz.
Poncho is survived by his wife, Irais Cruz; 15 children; Alfonso (Lucy Martinez) Cruz Jr., Norma (Luterio) Dominguez, Leticia (Genaro) Herrera, Nora (Noe) Borego, Jose Cruz, Carlos (Norma Salinas) Cruz., Silvia (Pedro) Borrego, Adriana (Gilberto Lara) Cruz,Rogelio (Griselda) Cruz, Alberto (Beatriz) Cruz, Eduardo Cruz., Veronica (Luis) Macias, Eduardo Hernandez, Abraham (Monserrat Nava) Cruz, Estrella (Jonathan Landeros) Cruz; various grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
He was the best grandfather and father we could have.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with a 6 p.m. prayer service Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral Service with take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
