It is with a heavy heart that I will say my final goodbye to my brother, Junie today. My family has known him for over 35 years. I have so many memories of him throughout the years. I remember him coming over to the house and introducing himself, “Hi, I’m Junie. “ We were in elementary school. From that introduction on, I didn’t know at the time I would be gaining another brother. My brothers and I would play baseball, kickball, hiding-go-seek and marbles with him and his cousins Ricky, Nufie, Mario and Leroy. We would play for hours, everyday in the hot Texas sun into the night. We did this everyday and it never got old. I will miss his jokes and yes, they were bad. I’ll also miss his latest magic trick that never worked. Even though I was the only girl amongst all those boys, Junie never treated me any different. He would call me names or trash talk as if I was one of my brothers. Then slowly, as the years went by, each one of us started to leave the neighborhood. We were growing up! We couldn’t stop time. Then each of us got married and had children. I remember when my children were little and Junie asked them to call him Uncle Rey. And so they did.
Out of all of us, Junie was the last person to leave the neighborhood. This saddens me and I’m still shocked. Well brother, Junie, I won’t say goodbye but instead say, “I’ll see you later.” Can you do me a favor? Can you tell my mom, grandma and Uncle Albert that I love them and miss them. Oh and one more favor, Can you save some room for me up there? I love you, brother!

Rey was more than a friend i considered him my family, from playing basketball on Sundays or Football ,or going to the bobcat cougar game. to go against each other was always fun. He would bring his mom stuffing during thanksgiving and he would always make his ham or dress up as santa clause during Christmas to see our kids eyes light up was always so precious. he was uncle Rey in the family and my brother all i can say is that he will be missed may he rest and peace and someday we will meet again.
